I am an architect based in Amman. I’ve always enjoyed hiding in the shelter I made, detached from the life outside, and being in my own bubble. Staking Legos, aligning cards, and sculpting sandcastles always gave me butterflies. Curiosity was my middle name. I knew that there’s a different world waiting for me. I chose architecture with the heart of a lion because of the love I have for design. I graduated from the German Jordanian University in 2018. This journey embraced and empowered my passion. The magic of Amman with its ancient stairs, tiny crowded roads, and faces of people that tell a million stories lit sparks in me. The year I spent in Germany, travelling all over Europe, played a spectacular role in enlightening my vision and broadening my field. Facing this amount of diversity encouraged me to focus on searching for a solution for a real problem in the city. I’ve always believed that architecture is about problem-solving and creating something for the society. This is how ‘the neighborhood cemetery’, my graduation project, was born.
أنا مهندسة معمارية من عمّان، منذ نعومة أظفاري وأنا أحبُّ الانعزال في فقَّاعتي الخاصَّة. أهربُ إلى الملجأ الذي صنعتُه، بعيدًا عن ضَوضاء العالم المحيط. كان صفُّ ترتيب ورق اللعب وصفُّ المكعَّبات ونحت القصور الرمليَّة تجلب إليَّ سعادةً لامتناهية. كان الفضول هو اسمي الثاني. كنتُ على يقينٍ أنَّ هناك عالَمًا مختلفًا ينتظرني في الخارج. اخترتُ تخصُّص هندسة العمارة بكلِّ شجاعةٍ وإصرارٍ وتحدٍّ نتيجة حبِّي الشديد للتصميم. واخترتُ الجامعة الأردنيَّة الألمانيَّة لتكونَ المأوى. كان لرحلة السنوات الخمس في هذا التخصُّص الوقعُ الكبير لتأكيد شغفي وتطويره. بدءًا من سِحر مدينتي عمَّان، بأدراجها العتيقة وزِقاقها المزدحمة الضيِّقة، ووجوه شعبها التي تروي ألف حكايةٍ وحكاية، إلى السنة التي أمضيتُها في ألمانيا، متنقِّلة ما بين البلدان الأوروبيَّة- كان لكلَيهما الأثرُ البالغ في إنارة دربي وتوسيع آفاقي. وبسبب هذا الكمِّ الهائل من الاختلاف والتنوُّع؛ ومن منطلق أنَّ العمارة تركِّزُ على ابتكار حلول للمشكلات الحقيقيَّة التي تواجهها المدينة، وُلِد مشروع تخرُّجي: مقبرة الحارة.

The project tried to solve the problem of the neglected, unplanned and small cemeteries inside the city of Amman. The main goal was to reclaim cemeteries inside the city and introduce a new architectural typology for cemeteries as well as being integrated within neighborhoods and act as positive spaces. The project has won serval awards internationally and locally.
